The majority of the tourists who enter the Sitabani Jeep Safari Zone are avid bird watchers. Bird watching is their hobby and the best part is that there is something to watch all season long. Over 600 species of trees grow here, as well as shrubs, bamboo, herbs, grasses, orchids, and tree climbers. Among the most important evergreen species in this zone are Sal, Sheesham, Kanju, Dhak, Haldu, Pipal, Mangos, and Rohini trees. Apart from all these species, Sitabani is a natural habitat of tigers, elephants, deer, sambhars, barking deer, dickens, and king cobras. This place is a paradise for bird watchers and also has an ashram where tourists can rest.

How to book a jeep safari in Sitabani?

No prior reservation or permit is required for the Sitabani Forest Zone. Corbett Park rules do not apply in this area.

More Details About Sitabani Forest Area

Managed by the Archaeological Survey of India, Sitabani is a famous bird-watching area and has an ashram set in the jungle. During the peak tourist season in Corbett National Park, some of the wild animals move to Sitabani. The dense sal forests of Sitabani Reserve are home to a variety of wild animals such as tigers, leopards, elephants, spotted deer, sambars, wild boars, etc. There are about 35 Royal Bengal Tigers in this reserve. The park is also popular with several brightly colored bird species.

The Sitabani Temple is located in the Sitabani Reserve and is dedicated to Goddess Sita. According to legend, Sita, the wife of Lord Rama, spent several days of her exile in Sitabani. The reserve also houses an ancient temple dedicated to the sage Valmiki. The Sitabani temple is visited in large numbers by devotees on Ramnavami day. There is a famous temple dedicated to Lord Shiva nearby.

Sitabani is open throughout the year for safari tours and there is no restriction on the entry of vehicles into the area. When tourists do not get permission to enter the Corbett Tiger Reserve, they choose to visit Sitabani. Most of the tourists who enter the Sitabani area are keen bird watchers. The Sitabani Forest Department issues a permit for this safari.
