Jhirna Forest Rest House

Accommodation in Jhirna Forest Rest House

This rest station is located right next to the southern boundary of the park. The Jhirna Forest Rest House is located on the road from Ramnagar to Kalagarh that runs east-west through the park. The landscape is drier than in Dhikala and the vegetation is mostly scrub. Jirna was an agricultural village until 1994 when it was successfully relocated under the Tiger Project. Abandoned farmland is gradually being returned to a wild state and managed to develop grassland habitats. The nearby terrain consists of numerous alleys and narrow gorges running through the typical Shiwalik landscape. The hills north of Jirna are covered with thick patches of bamboo. Apart from being a good habitat for the tiger, leopard, and deer, the place also hosts other interesting mammals like the sloth bear and the wild boar. A variety of birds can also be observed here.

In the Jhirna zone, there is only one forest lodge with 4 rooms where tourists can stay overnight. But a maximum of 2 rooms can be booked at a time for a maximum of 3 nights at a time. All rooms have a double bed and an attached bathroom. However, the rooms are spacious and the bathrooms are clean, but there are very few amenities in the room. So if you are looking for a luxury holiday, the hotel is not for you. This forest guest house is an ideal accommodation for true wildlife lovers who can stay in the jungle with minimal amenities. There is no electricity here except for solar power for limited use.
